Grand Rapids, Michigan, February 2, 2018 – CD Barnes Construction, a Grand Rapids based Construction Management firm, is entering their second year of recognizing their contractors with a Key to Our Success Awards program. Marketing Coordinator, Ellen Frey of CD Barnes, says “Our team implemented the program a year ago to show our appreciation for the extra effort our subcontractors put forth to ensure the successfulness of a project. We understand the construction industry is booming and a lot of trades are suffering from labor shortages, so when our contractors go the extra mile, we want them to know that we owe any successes we have to them.”

Selecting CD Barnes’ first quarter award recipient was Project Manager, Tom Berry, who nominated Eastpointe Interiors, a flooring contractor out of Grand Rapids. Tom chose Eastpointe for their work on the recently completed seating renovation at the Goodrich Ada-Lowell theater. Berry noted a couple points for his selection of Eastpointe Interiors for the award, “As our team has done several of these types of theater seating renovations, the construction schedule is oftentimes very fast-paced to minimize the down time of the theaters. Eastpointe managed to keep up with the schedule all while maintaining a high-level of quality on the flooring scope of work. Additionally, whenever there were changes throughout the project, Eastpointe was swift in executing the turnaround for those necessary changes.” CD Barnes’ Site Manager for the Goodrich Ada-Lowell renovation, Mark Elder also commented on Eastpointe Interior’s efforts to maintain a clean work area throughout the duration of the project. More importantly noted Mark, Eastpointe managed to keep the project staffed with at least four or five employees where needed, which has become a big obstacle in an industry facing labor shortages the last few years.
