Grand Rapids, Michigan, September 17, 2015 – CD Barnes, one of Michigan’s oldest and most reputable construction companies, recently participated in the JDRF One Walk to raise money for type 1 diabetes research.
The CD Barnes Construction team had 31 walkers participate in the 1.5-mile JDRF One Walk (formerly the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes) at Ah-Nab-Awen Park in Grand Rapids, MI. The walk took place on Saturday, September 12, 2015. The CD Barnes Construction team raised $2,240.15 for JDRF!
According to JDRF, 72,000 adults and children in Michigan live with type 1 diabetes. At least $8 billion was spent to treat undiagnosed and diagnosed diabetes in Michigan in 2011. Over 900,000 people around the world participate in JDRF walks each year, all for the purpose of raising money to cure type 1 diabetes. In 2014, JDRF raised $5.3 million in Michigan alone.
In total, the JDRF One Walk in Grand Rapids raised over $160,000 toward the goal of creating a world without type 1 diabetes.
