Summer Construction Hazards

It’s no secret that children are curious by nature, and now that school is out for the summer, it can be tempting for them to explore various building and construction sites throughout the community. That’s why it is important to have a discussion with kids about the dangers associated with these kinds of construction areas. Remind them that some of the hazards can include holes, trenches, uneven ground, moving equipment, unstable structures, and materials and equipment left onsite at the end of the day. Stress the importance of staying away from these types of areas to avoid trips or falls, shifting materials, or being struck by various pieces of equipment and vehicles moving around onsite. These rules apply both during the day and at night after workers have left for the day. While we want our next generations to be interested in the construction industry, we want to keep them safe at the same time.
