Oosting, Executive Vice President of CD Barnes shared, “As our team thought about the upcoming holidays back in October, we realized that not everyone in our community is as fortunate as we are.” He continued, “Sometimes we take our everyday necessities for granted; and that’s when we decided to give back to those in need.”
After a month of sponsoring a winter clothing drive and requesting donations of new or gently-used coats, hats, gloves/mittens, boots, and scarfs, CD Barnes presented the Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids with a hefty load of winter apparel. In total, CD Barnes Construction donated sixteen hats, six pairs of gloves/mittens, four scarfs, eleven coats, and thirty-one sweatshirts/long sleeve shirts to benefit the kids and teens of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth.
Ellen Frey, Marketing Coordinator of CD Barnes said “Seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces during the drop-off was incredibly rewarding. I think its businesses like ours that are responsible for giving back to the local community, and keeping this in mind, my hope is that future generations will continue to pay it forward. Better yet, I hope these acts of kindness will promote a culture in the community that encourages people to love where they live.”
