Kalamazoo Based Esper Electric Wins CD Barnes’ Key to Our Success Award

Grand Rapids, Michigan, February 18, 2021 – CD Barnes Construction has named their latest subcontractor to receive their Key to Our Success Award. Esper Electric out of Kalamazoo was nominated by CD Barnes’ Superintendent, Jonathan Stoner, for their efforts on the Kalamazoo Youth for Christ’s new City Life Center. The award is a symbol of appreciation and recognition for subcontractors who exemplify the best in performance, quality, and communication on CD Barnes’ projects.

Jonathan noted Esper’s commitment to being responsive throughout the project, from the beginning of making the existing building safe for demolition, running temporary power and lighting, all the way through the project, to completing final fixtures and finishes. The project involved many different types of construction due to the nature of incorporating a new structural steel superstructure cantilevered over an existing building. This type of project required a high level of communication on site between all trades and CD Barnes’ management. Curtis Vreeman, Esper Electric’s Project Manager,  and Eric Kuzmick, Esper’s onsite Foreman, showed exemplary leadership by complying with our requirements for meeting attendance, responses to field or design changes, and enforcing the CD Barnes safety program which included COVID-19 safety protocols. Esper promptly responded to the need for added manpower at specific times during the project in order to maintain the critical path construction schedule. Esper Electric was a valued partner for us on this project and that’s why they were chosen to receive the Key to Our Success Award.
