Hand2Hand Receives Donation From Contractor’s Team Building Activity

Grand Rapids, Michigan – For the sixth year in a row CD Barnes Construction has held a NCAA Tournament team building activity with their employees, consultants, and clients. While the activity is based on NCAA basketball brackets and team bonding, it always ends in a donation to a charity or non-profit organization of the winning team’s choice. This year was no different.

This year’s first-place winning team was CD Barnes’ site superintendent extraordinaries, Tom Minnema and Jonathan Stoner. Tom and Jonathan chose to donate the $1,000 to the Hand2Hand. Founded in 2008, Hand2Hand delivers nutritious food to students over the weekends and on extended school breaks by mobilizing churches, schools, individuals and businesses to join together, providing hope and opportunity to thrive.  Currently, Hand2Hand is serving 10,327 students in 273 schools, age 3-18, in 44 school districts in West Michigan.

In addition to the first-place team’s donation and cash prize, the second, third, fourth, and last-place teams also won cash prizes. For the first time this year though, we had two other teams also decide to donate their cash winnings.  Shout out to the 3rd place team of Aileen Leipprandt and Jill Miller of Hilger Hammond and the last place team of CD Barnes own Jason Kauffman and Spencer Weiland for donating their to Hand2Hand, making the total donation $1750.00.
