Grand Rapids, Michigan, November 7, 2014 — From Mount Pleasant to Benton Harbor and Lansing to Muskegon, Celebration! Cinemas is the largest provider of cinematic entertainment in West Michigan. And while that’s quite an accomplishment, the theatre group wishes to have their brand be synonymous with another attribute as well…comfort. Celebration! Cinemas is in the process of upgrading all seating at their Lansing location and they have hired CD Barnes Construction to manage the project.

This is not the first collaboration for Celebration! Cinemas, CD Barnes Construction and Post Associates. The trio has previously partnered on seven other projects, including construction of the Celebration! Cinema North (Knapp’s Corner) complex and the Celebration! Cinema South (M6 and Kalamazoo) projects. Of again having the opportunity to work with Celebration! Cinemas, CD Barnes Construction’s Executive Vice President Todd Oosting shared, “The Loeks group has become one of our best clients over the past decade. We are always pleased to receive a call from John Loeks and Roger Lubs telling us they have another project on the horizon. We are excited to head back to Lansing to manage another outstanding project for Celebration! Cinemas.”

The 76,038 square foot venue has one IMAX Theatre, one THX Theatre and eighteen additional theatre rooms, all of which will receive upgrades. The project is phased to allow for minimum disruption to holiday traffic; the first three theatre room renovations will be complete prior to Thanksgiving, an additional two theatre room renovations between Thanksgiving and Christmas and the balance after the New Year. Upgrades will include electrical work, new platforms, flooring, paint and handrails – all designed to enhance the new seating and customer viewing experience. When all is complete, Celebration! Cinema Lansing will boast 1,672 plush, new chairs.
